Origin Story
The value of art is in direct proportion to its resonance in the mind and body of the beholder.
Liminality calls upon the observer to invest their own, very individual, experience and emotional life into the reading of the piece. Triggered by an apparently specific descriptive phrase, the accompanying, shifting colour field images form ghostly, abstract narratives in the viewer’s mind.
In this first tranche of liminal exchange, Daxial invites you to be the art.
About the Artist
Daxial’s work explores liminality, or the state of transition between one stage and the next. Where the instigation of the artwork meets the sense response in the viewer. The artist triggers and the viewer responds. Value emerges in the resulting sensation. Art lives in the ether between craft and appreciation.
Design theorist, technologist, artist, Daxial champions the autonomy of individual minds within the democratic collective. The work is at its strongest when the viewer is complicit. The patron as creative vessel.
With Liminality, the experience is different at each encounter. A trigger statement initiates a sense memory, or experiencial recollection – often closeted away – applied to strategically animated colour fields. The resulting experience lives once more without recrimination on the threshold of the conscious world. A vicarious sensation on the spectrum between pleasure and dread.
